CLE Credit
Emphasizing that this course is fully appropriate for non-lawyer trade professionals, as well as lawyers:
The Geneva Trade Institute is pleased to confirm that it is accredited to grant Continuing Legal Education credits for this course to attorneys whose licensing jurisdictions mandate CLE.
VIRGINIA
The Geneva Trade Institute is approved by the Virginia Bar to grant Virginia attorneys completing this course 35 Virginia CLE credits.
NEW YORK
A New York attorney may claim 42 New York CLE credits for this course. The New York Bar has designated Virginia as an “Approved Jurisdiction” for CLE credit. As the Geneva Trade Institute is approved by the Virginia Bar to grant CLE credit, a New York attorney may claim credit for this course under the New York Bar’s “Approved Jurisdiction Policy.” Furthermore, since the Virginia Bar determines the number of credits granted for a course based on a 60-minute hour, and New York calculates the number of credits based on a 50-minute hour, a New York attorney may claim 42 New York CLE credits for this course, which the Virginia Bar has approved for 35 Virginia CLE credits.
DC & MARYLAND
The DC and Maryland Bars do not mandate CLE for their members.
OTHER STATES
Most other states that mandate CLE recognize credits from courses approved by Virginia through some type of reciprocity policy. In addition, most of the states that do not have any type of CLE reciprocity with Virginia allow their members to request, on a course-by-course basis, credit in their state for Virginia CLE courses that their members have completed. If you are an attorney licensed in another state that mandates continuing legal education, check with your state to learn how to receive CLE credit for this course either by reciprocity or by request. Note that, if your jurisdiction determines the number of credits for a course based on a 50-minute hour, you will be able to apply for 42 credits for this course. If your jurisdiction determines the number of credits based on a 60-minute hour, you will be able to apply for 35 credits for this course.
